Customers Won’t Discount Your Dishonesty

A recent coaching session touched upon the growing trend that some marketers have adopted to squeeze out sales from exiting traffic.

In other words, you visit a website and read the salesletter. You decide it’s not for you, so you leave. But when you try leave (either as you close your browser or simply hover your mouse outside of it), the website attempts to make a last-ditch offer. The common practice is to offer a discount, and a recent trend is to make it through virtual sales assistant just before the prospect clicks away from the screen. (Virtual assistant or not, it is no different than a one-time offer appearing in an exit pop-up or spawned browser window once the visitor leaves.)

Write Your Own Recommendations & Ads: You can always take any pre-written text provided in an affiliate marketing program and see how they work for you, but it’s generally better to write your own recommendations and ads. This will add a personal touch and persuade your readers to find out more.

Know Your Target Reader’s Needs: Because affiliate marketing has become highly competitive, it is very important that you understand the benefits and features of the products you market that will appeal to your target readers.

Speak From Experience: Give examples of how the particular product has worked for you. I am always looking for ways to build my online business by using all means available. Many Internet Entrepreneurs still don’t believe in the vast monetization potential ‘Blogs’ have over the traditional ‘Website’.

I find the Blog to be my number one affiliate marekting resource for a few reasons but the greatest benefit has been; (besides the fact that Blogs are EXTREMELY EASY to layout and update) They get Indexed By Search Engines FAST. So fast in fact, don’t even start one unless you are ready to publish content worthy of your desired end result. Google will be visiting your blog by way of the built-in ‘ping’ ability within minutes of your first content publish so make sure you give ‘em something worthy of future visits.

The 10 Rules of Successful Communication

As Internet Marketing niches become more and more competitive an online business based on the affiliate marketing model has to find ways to overcome the typical sales pitch super hype.  I like to consider myself as the Man Behind The Wheel on the ‘Straight Talk Express’ and always present you with the actuality of my personal experience with any given information product or service I want to introduce you to.

That being said, I also realize the importance of presenting appropriate sales copy when promoting your offer. My advice is just to not over-do the rhetoric. Use the writing tips from the “Pros” but just make sure you blend their tips into your natural “writing voice” style. Your loyal readers (and most times even first-time visitors to your site) will recognize Marketing Fluff immediately and exit your page at light speed. Virtually costing you money by way of the ‘wasted’ time you spent concocting your perfect pitch that never got read past the first sentence.
