Affiliate Marketing Writing Tips
Write Your Own Recommendations & Ads: You can always take any pre-written text provided in an affiliate marketing program and see how they work for you, but it’s generally better to write your own recommendations and ads. This will add a personal touch and persuade your readers to find out more.
Know Your Target Reader’s Needs: Because affiliate marketing has become highly competitive, it is very important that you understand the benefits and features of the products you market that will appeal to your target readers.
Speak From Experience: Give examples of how the particular product has worked for you. Don’t just “Say” you love it…illustrate the exact benefit you have experienced from the use of the product. Carefully consider this one a bit so you can give an example that would be directly relevant to your affiliate product.Don’t Give A Sales Pitch, Give Information: Your readers will get a sales pitch when they get to the affiliate product owner’s website. Successful affiliate marketing is achieved by Pre-selling your readers. Keep the tone informational and friendly…gain the trust of your reader first. In the Pre-sale method, your job is to warm-up the visitor to the affiliate product. The product owner’s web site should close the sale since they have the resources to have great sales copy written.
More Affiliate Marketing Writing Tips- Use attention-grabbing headlines: Ask a question: give a hard to resist benefit; tell your reader how you’ve benefited from the product.
Specify your claims: Don’t say, “It worked for me”. Explain HOW it worked for you. List concrete benefits of using the affiliate product, how you implemented it’s use and what results it produced.
Try not to use exclamation points! They tend to appear insincere and hypey.
Don’t go overboard with capitalization: WRITING IN ALL IN CAPITAL LETTERS IS LIKE SHOUTING! Do you fully absorb information when it is screamed in your ear? Your readers probably won’t either.
Be concise and simple: People tend to scan the information they are reading on a web page so make it easy on their eyes. Here are a couple points for creating scan-friendly web pages:
- Break up your paragraphs into bit-sized chunks. Use bolding on headlines, subheadings and sparingly throughout the text to bring attention to the affiliate products benefits.
- Write in short sentences with simple language.
Most of all, be true. Writing for successful affiliate marketing can be both fun and financially rewarding when you speak from your personal knowledge of the products. And if you have not used the product, simply state why you believe the product will benefit your readers based on truths you have experienced that can be directly linked to the product being promoted.

Just wanted to say thanks, I never thought about formatting of the post much, I always sort of just focused on getting the message out, but the way you laid out your post actually drew me into it alot more. I guess its time to start writing a little more neater.

I always hate the standard/generic emails/reviews that the companies write for their products… I think one of the biggest annoyances is they rarely tell you what it actually does! They’re too close to the product to be able to write in plain English.
I usually feel guilty for rewriting anything the authors write about their stuff, I shouldn’t really should I!
